Coding has played a prominent role in the technological revolution of the 21st century- it’s the mathematical and computer genius behind our everyday electronic pleasures, education and communication.

Our school’s coding club, alongside the guidance of Mrs Nalewabau and Mr Blackburn, has been participating in the Tech Girls Movement Foundation Competition that has taken place in schools across Australia and New Zealand. The competition aims to encourage students to actively become a part of the new coding age, especially the young women and girls of today. All girls have been required to form groups of 3-5 and have embarked on an app-making challenge throughout the term until the 28th July. Each team has had to develop a business plan and app concerning the following areas:

  • Poverty
  • Environment
  • Education
  • Peace
  • Equality
  • Health

Each app will be constructed from scratch via MIT App Inventor which will include a series of complex coding procedures.

Well done to all girls who are participating in the competition!
